The NORTH FACE

Mt. Baker has a way of shaping people. During a heavy storm cycle, I jumped in for a few days to help support Mary Rand’s film All Right Here with still photography commissioned by The North Face. Things aligned and we were lucky to ride with couple of her friends who shaped her stoke on big mountain snowboarding, Austin Smith and Jake Blauvelt. The project became less about portraits of individuals and more about the community and conditions that define this place.

Shot in the thick of weather, it’s a grounded look at Baker’s character: snowy, rowdy, and honest. A celebration of the people who ride here, and the mountain that pulls them back.
