For two decades, Chris Wellhausen has been completely immersed in photography. Splitting his efforts between editorial and commercial work, Chris is constantly producing photography, editing, curating projects, and developing his craft. His previous roles as Director of Photography for iconic magazines, TransWorld SNOWboarding, Snowboarder, and Men's Journal, has given him an array of high level production experiences with some of the greatest adventure sport athletes, brands, and production teams around the world.
Chris maintains the highest standards on everything from understanding a clients needs, collaboration on aesthetic direction, equipment, lighting, image selection, to managing budgets and production staff, and most importantly delivery on time of quality services.
A lifelong love of snowboarding and outdoor action fuels Chris’ passion for photography and his deep connection to the mountain environment imbues his work with an intimate and authentic perspective. His proven ability to capture the dynamic beauty of the natural world and the people who play there has attracted commercial clients from across the adventure sports spectrum, giving Chris the opportunity to share his vision with a global audience. In his ceaseless pursuit of the next inspired image, Chris continues to develop his studio work, photojournalism, and personal photography projects. He lives and works in San Diego, California with his wife, two daughters, and their dog.
